Overview

Built when he was just 31 years old, Gaudí’s El Capricho is one of the early works of Catalonia’s iconic architect and is one of the only buildings designed by Gaudí that is not located in Catalonia. Instead, this beautiful summer house is located in pastoral Cantabria, in northern Spain. The building is unmistakably Gaudí, but also shows clear Orientalist and Mudéjar influences, often seen in his early career. The house features an eye-catching Persian air minaret with a bold green, red, and gold color scheme. It is emblazoned with sparkling sunflower mosaics – a theme that continues around the house’s entire facade. If you’re a Gaudí fan in Cantabria, make sure you don’t miss this cultural gem!
