Château Royal de Cognac was originally a 10th-century fortress designed to stop invasions by the Normans. In the 15th century, it became a seigniorial dwelling and was the birthplace of one of France’s most famous kings, François I. In 1494, Baron Otard acquired the château, saving it from destruction. He turned it into the home of his Cognac business, thanks to the unique walls, which were perfect for the aging of his eau de vie. The Royal Château of Cognac, now a listed monument and a major cognac house. It’s located in Cognac, France.
